Versions & Differences 

What is the difference between shortyDings and shortyDings+assist? 

shortyDings+assist uses Text-to-Speech (TTS) for feedback and responses to improve accessibility. The standard version displays on-screen notifications instead. Both versions are installed using the same installation package but require different permissions and have separate listings in the Genesys App Store.

Installation & Requirements 

How do I install shortyDings / shortyDings+assist? 

shortyDings / shortyDings+assist is available via the Genesys AppFoundry. Click Free Trial, select the desired offering, accept the terms and conditions, and follow the instructions after activation. A detailed installation guide is currently not publicly available online.

Can I install shortyDings / shortyDings+assist without the web installer? 

Yes. Please contact us at software@deliberate.de. However, we recommend using the web installer, as shortyDings / shortyDings+assist consists of multiple components that would otherwise need to be installed manually.

Which operating systems are supported? 

shortyDings / shortyDings+assist can be installed on Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11.

Does shortyDings / shortyDings+assist work in virtual environments (e.g., Citrix, virtual desktops)? 

Yes, shortyDings / shortyDings+assist can be used in Citrix environments. For virtual desktops, shortyDings / shortyDings+assist must be installed on the virtual desktop itself, not on the host system. The browser used for Genesys must also run on the same system.

Which browsers are supported? 

All Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome (recommended) or Microsoft Edge. Automatic installation of the dingsConnector extension works only with Chrome; other browsers require manual installation.

Which permissions are required?

Administrators require access to the AppWizard page with the appropriate permissions (see documentation).

How are licenses counted? 

License usage is tracked based on assigned permissions. Each user with the relevant permission counts as a licensed user.

Troubleshooting

I receive the error message: “The shortyDings / shortyDings+assist integration is missing in your organization!” 

Make sure shortyDings / shortyDings+assist has been installed via the AppFoundry, that you have the correct permissions, and that you are logged into the correct organization. For local licenses: close shortyDings, open `%appdata%/Deliberate/blinkyDings`, edit the file `cfg.json`, enter your license code, and restart shortyDings / shortyDings+assist.

Error code [10002] when starting shortyDings / shortyDings+assist 

Rename the file `cfg.json` in the folder `%appdata%/Deliberate/shortyDings` (for example, to `cfg_old.json`) and restart shortyDings / shortyDings+assist.

Not all components were installed correctly 

Run the installation again—either using the web installer or manually with all required components: shortyDings / shortyDings+assist app, dingsConnector (local), dingsConnector (browser extension).

shortyDings / shortyDings+assist displays a warning that the Genesys PureCloud website is not open 

Open your browser and sign in to Genesys.

I clicked “Logout Genesys” — how do I log in again? 

Reload the Genesys page in your browser and wait a few seconds.

Features & Usage 

How do I log in to shortyDings / shortyDings+assist? 

No separate login is required. Authentication is handled via Genesys.

Why is the dingsConnector browser extension installed? 

The dingsConnector is required to retrieve the user token from the browser and ensure authentication.

Can I customize hotkeys? 

Yes. Open `%appdata%/Deliberate/shortyDings/cfg.json` in a text editor and adjust the desired hotkeys. Create a backup of the file beforehand.

How do I transfer a caller to the consulted party? 

While speaking with the consulted party, use the hotkey Release all calls or callbacks.

What does the “Enable automatic call announcement” checkbox do? 

When enabled, available call information is automatically announced by shortyDings+assist for incoming calls.

Which TTS languages are supported by shortyDings+assist? 

Any TTS language installed on your computer can be selected. shortyDings+assist supports all Windows TTS voices.

Can the TTS voice be customized in shortyDings+assist? 

Yes. Different voices and languages can be selected via the app interface.

Is shortyDings+assist compatible with screen readers? 

Yes. shortyDings+assist has been optimized for use with common screen readers and provides full keyboard navigation.

Miscellaneous 

Which languages are supported? 

shortyDings / shortyDings+assist is currently available only in English. For TTS output, any TTS language installed on your computer can be used.

Is there a trial version? 

Yes. A one-month free trial is available and begins upon activation in the Genesys AppFoundry.

Does shortyDings / shortyDings+assist work with embedded clients (e.g., Salesforce)? 

Yes, shortyDings / shortyDings+assist can be used together with embedded clients such as the Salesforce client.

Does shortyDings / shortyDings+assist work with Genesys Engage or PureConnect? 

No. shortyDings / shortyDings+assist works only with Genesys Cloud CX.

How can I report an issue or provide feedback? 

Use the Report Issue button in the shortyDings / shortyDings+assist window. Alternatively, contact us at software@deliberate.de. When emailing, please include the log files from `%localappdata%/Deliberate/shortyDings`.
